UREC Outdoors provides experiences on campus and throughout North Texas. Travel with us on our excursions, learn new skills in our on-campus clinics, log roll or rent some camping gear. Learn how to care for our earth by following the principles of Leave No Trace.

Learn a new skill or improve your competency in all things outdoors. Ranging from using a compass, building a fire, slacklining and dutch oven cooking.

How much does an excursion cost?

Varies on the excursion, but most are 50% off for students! Typically, between $10-$25. (Camping ~$80-$200)

How do I sign up?

Select the excursion on this page that you wish to join and follow the instructions.

Do I need to be physically fit to participate?

No, we do beginner excursions that introduce you to outdoors!

What is a pre-trip meeting?

Pre-trip meetings are a time to meet with your trip leader and ask questions. This is when you will sign your waivers, be assigned to a car, select meals and understand what the trip entails.

What is the refund policy?

To receive a full refund, you must contact the outdoors team before the pre-trip meeting. We ask that you let us know as soon as possible because we always have a waiting list!

What do I bring on the excursion?

Each excursion is different. During the pre-trip meeting, the trip leader will have a list to give to each participant. Usually, we like to have everyone bring a water bottle, sunscreen, bug spray and snacks.

What if I cannot attend the pre-trip meeting?

You must contact URECOutdoors@utdallas.edu to let them know, so they can schedule a separate meeting time with you.
